Where the Government Spends
1. Tier1’s – The major Tier 1 government
contractors (Lockheed, Raytheon, Boeing, etc) are always going to get about a third of the contracts sole sourced to them simply because they are the only companies that can handle multi-billion dollar projects and have developed products critical to defense and national security.
2. Full & Open Competition – For the most part, the government is based on the methodology of allowing the public to freely bid on opportunities.
This process will continue to be used for about a third of all contracted work.
3. Small Businesses - The U.S. government is the largest proponent of offering opportunities for small businesses to grow. In doing so, they have established a host of mandates requiring specific opportunities be given only to small businesses or businesses that have unique set-aside statuses.
